The Buddy awardwas established in 1956 by the Norwegian Jazz Federation and is the most recognized award in Norwegian Jazz. Since the beginning over 50 musicians have received the award based on outstanding performances as musicians as well as their work for the benefit of Norwegian jazz. A look at the award winners will give you an excellent view of the high points of Norwegian jazz through the past six decades.

The award winner receives a statuette of the legendary trumpeter Buddy Bolden created by the artist Lise Frogg and 50 000 NKR from Norsk Jazzforum.
